Terms of Service

Welcome to Stencil Lab. By accessing or using our web application, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully before using our service.

1. Definitions

"Service" refers to Stencil Lab's web application, software, and related services
"You" / "User" refers to the individual or entity using our Service
"Content" refers to images, stencil files, and other materials uploaded or generated through our Service
"Account" refers to your registered user profile
"We" / "Us" / "Stencil Lab" refers to the operators of this Service

2. Account Registration

2.1 Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By registering, you represent that:

You meet the age requirement
All information you provide is accurate and current
You will maintain the accuracy of your information
You have the legal capacity to enter into binding contracts

2.2 Account Security

You are responsible for:

Maintaining the confidentiality of your password
All activities that occur under your account
Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use
Ensuring your account is not shared with others

3. Subscription Plans

Stencil Lab offers three plans:

3.1 FREE Plan ($0)

10 stencils
Up to 3 layers per stencil
PNG exports
Base editing tools
View the community gallery

3.2 PRO Plan ($15/month or $99/year)

Everything in Free, plus unlimited stencils
Up to 20 layers per stencil
SVG and DXF exports
Background remover tool
Automatic spray paint colour matching
Advanced bridging tools
Choose colour or greyscale
Access to all community gallery designs
10% discount on stencil cutting
Priority support
Personal use only

3.3 PRO LIFETIME Plan ($399 one-time)

All PRO design features
Lifetime access (no recurring fees)
All future updates
Personal use only
Does not include a stencil cutting discount

4. Billing and Payments

4.1 Payment Processing

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your full credit card information.

4.2 Automatic Renewal (PRO Plan)

Monthly and annual PRO subscriptions renew at the billing interval selected at checkout unless canceled before the next renewal. Your checkout and billing account show the price and renewal date. PRO LIFETIME is a one-time purchase and does not renew.

Eligible first-time PRO subscribers receive a seven-day free trial when starting a monthly or annual subscription. Payment details are required at sign-up. Unless canceled before the trial ends, the selected plan then costs $15 per month or $99 per year and renews at that interval. A trial is not available to accounts that have already used one. You can cancel at any time.

4.3 Price Changes

We may change subscription prices with 30 days' advance notice via email. Price changes do not affect existing subscriptions until renewal.

4.4 Taxes

The displayed item and subscription prices are the prices charged at checkout; we do not add VAT, sales tax or GST at checkout. Stencil Lab is not VAT registered and does not charge VAT. Physical stencil shipping is charged separately at the rate shown before payment. Import duties, taxes or handling fees charged by a courier or customs authority are the customer's responsibility; see our Shipping Policy.

4.5 Cancellation

You may cancel your PRO subscription at any time:

Important:

Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
You retain PRO access until your current trial or paid period ends
Cancellation does not normally refund payments already made (see our Returns & Refund Policy)
You will not be charged again after cancellation

4.6 Refunds

Refund eligibility:

Refunds, returns and cancellations depend on the product or service purchased.

Nothing in this section limits your rights under applicable consumer law.

5. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree NOT to:

5.1 Prohibited Content

Upload content that violates copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
Upload illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or obscene content
Upload content depicting minors in inappropriate contexts
Upload content promoting violence, hate speech, or discrimination

5.2 Prohibited Activities

Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble our software
Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) without written permission
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
Interfere with or disrupt the Service
Resell or redistribute our Service or generated stencil files
Create multiple accounts to exploit free trials or refund policies

5.3 Commercial Use Restrictions

All plans and physical stencils: Personal use only. You may not sell or distribute generated stencil files, purchased physical stencils or physical stencils made from the files.
Any separately approved Designer Program activity is governed by its own agreement.

6. Intellectual Property Rights

6.1 Your Content Ownership

You retain full ownership of:

Images you upload to Stencil Lab
Stencil files generated from your images
All derivative works created using our Service

6.2 License to Us

By uploading content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to:

Process your images to generate stencils
Store your files on our servers
Display thumbnails in your account dashboard

We do NOT:

Claim ownership of your content
Use your content for marketing without permission
Share your content with third parties (except service providers like Supabase for storage)

6.3 Our Intellectual Property

Stencil Lab's software, algorithms, branding, and UI design are our proprietary property. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them.

6.4 User Responsibility for Copyright

You represent that you have the necessary rights to upload and process any content through our Service. You agree to indemnify us against any claims arising from your uploaded content.

6.5 Gallery Designs and Physical Orders

When a design is in the public gallery, any Stencil Lab customer can order a physical laser-cut stencil of it. Stencil Lab produces, packs and ships every order.

License: while a design is in the gallery, you grant Stencil Lab a non-exclusive license to show it in the gallery and to reproduce it as physical stencils for customers who order it. You keep ownership of the design.
Earnings: if you are not an approved member of the Stencil Lab Designer Program, Stencil Lab keeps the earnings from orders of your designs. No earnings are held for you and none are paid retrospectively. Approved members earn the commission set out in the Designer Revenue Share Terms, on orders placed after their approval.
Stopping orders: remove the design from the gallery at any time. Orders already paid for are still produced and shipped.
Designs already in the gallery on September 15, 2026: Stencil Lab made these orderable on September 15, 2026 and emails each owner to say so. The owner can opt out at any time by removing the design from the gallery.
Designs shared after September 15, 2026: sharing requires accepting the Marketplace Sale Consent, and the design is orderable as soon as it is in the gallery.

7. DMCA Copyright Policy

If you believe content on Stencil Lab infringes your copyright, send a DMCA takedown notice to [email protected] including:

Your contact information
Description of the copyrighted work
URL or location of the infringing material
Statement of good faith belief
Statement of accuracy under penalty of perjury
Your physical or electronic signature

We will investigate and remove infringing content within 72 hours.

8. Service Availability

8.1 Uptime

We strive for 99.9% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Scheduled maintenance will be announced in advance.

8.2 Feature Changes

We reserve the right to:

Add, modify, or discontinue features
Impose usage limits (file size, processing time)
Temporarily suspend the Service for maintenance

8.3 Data Backups

While we perform regular backups, you are responsible for maintaining your own backups of important content. We are not liable for data loss.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING:

Accuracy of stencil generation results
Fitness for a particular purpose
Non-infringement of third-party rights
Compatibility with specific cutting machines or printers

You use the Service at your own risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the last 12 months or $100, whichever is greater
We are NOT liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages
We are NOT liable for loss of profits, data, business opportunities, or goodwill

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

Your violation of these Terms
Your uploaded content (copyright infringement, illegal material)
Your sale or commercial distribution of generated stencil files or physical stencils contrary to these Terms

12. Termination

12.1 By You

You may delete your account at any time through Settings → Account → Delete Account.

12.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if:

You violate these Terms
You engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
Your payment method is declined
Required by law or court order

12.3 Effect of Termination

Your access to the Service will cease
Your uploaded content may be deleted after 30 days
Refunds after termination are handled under our Returns & Refund Policy and applicable consumer law

13. Dispute Resolution

13.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to conflict of law principles.

13.2 Informal Resolution

Before filing a legal claim, you agree to attempt informal resolution by emailing [email protected] with:

Description of the dispute
Your desired resolution

We will respond within 30 days with a proposed solution.

13.3 Binding Arbitration

If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in London, United Kingdom, rather than in court. Arbitration is conducted by a neutral arbitrator and is final and binding.

13.4 Class Action Waiver

You agree to resolve disputes individually, not as part of a class action lawsuit.

13.5 Opt-Out of Arbitration

You may opt-out of arbitration by emailing [email protected] within 30 days of account creation with "Arbitration Opt-Out" in the subject line.

14. Export Control

You agree to comply with applicable export laws and regulations. You may not use the Service if you are located in a country subject to trade restrictions.

15. Privacy

Your use of the Service is subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via:

Email notification (30 days before effective date)
Prominent notice on our website

Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, along with our Privacy Policy, Shipping Policy and Returns & Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Stencil Lab.
